Here’s our view, based on visitors wanting to experience the history and uniqueness of the city.  Other people, with other interests, will of course take different views.

• Explore the University of Cambridge colleges
  Walk through historic colleges such as King’s, Trinity and St John’s. Each college has its own architectural style and history, giving an introduction to Cambridge’s academic heritage.
• Visit King’s College Chapel
  Renowned for its Gothic architecture and exceptional fan vaulting, the chapel is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city. If possible, attend an evensong service to experience the beauty of the choir.
• Go punting on the River Cam
  A guided or self-hire punt provides views of the “Backs” of several colleges from the river, including famous bridges and landscaped gardens. It is one of the most distinctive Cambridge experiences. Even if you fall in!
• Wander round the Fitzwilliam Museum
  The Fitzwilliam houses extensive collections of art, antiquities and manuscripts, ranging from ancient civilisations to European masterpieces. Even better, entry is free.
• Stroll through the historic city centre and market area
  The area around Market Square is full of interesting independent shops, cafés and historic buildings. It provides a good contrast between everyday city life and the academic life of the university.
